Objectives

Adheres to the mission of cultivating contemporary management talents for the society, the department highlights three major training directions, which includes business data analysis, operation and supply chain management, and financial investment management. We aim to cultivate students with a strong sense of social responsibility and spirit of innovation, a solid theoretical knowledge of management science, and proficient skills in using quantitative analysis tools to solve various practical management problems. Through the training of this major, students will have excellent abilities in business data analysis, and be competent for working as manager or consultant in various enterprises or public institutions. They would also be well prepared for entering high-level universities at home and abroad for further study.

Programs and courses

The Department of management science opens its undergraduate and master programs. The duration of undergraduate program is 4 years, and the master programs is 3 years. All courses are divided into compulsory and optional courses, such as Principles of Management, Micro-economics, Econometrics, Social Science Research Methods, Operational Research, Strategic Management, Quality Management, Project Management, Human Resources Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Management Information System, Marketing, Probability, Big Data Management and others. It also contains a variety of practice courses and activities.

Faculties

There are currently more than 20 faculties in the department, and 12 of them are full-time teachers, with 2 professors, 4 associate professors and 6 lecturers. 11 faculties have obtained doctoral degree from leading universities, and 4 faculties have overseas study experience. At present, the department of management science has set up an academic team with reasonable structure of age, gender and knowledge. All faculties in the department have rich teaching and scientific research experience, with a background in management science and engineering or related interdisciplinary disciplines. In recent years, faculties in the department have undertaken a number of national and provincial scientific research projects, they have also successfully guided the students to win various national and provincial awards.

Learning conditions and employments

At present, the department has a full-fledged virtual simulation laboratory, and has established internship bases with more than 10 companies, including Blue Moon Group, Guangdong TipDM Intelligent Technology Co., LTD, Guangzhou Zhongzheng Robot Co., LTD and others. Under such learning conditions, many graduates from the department are employed in the world’s top 500 enterprises or well-known innovative enterprises, such as China’s four major commercial banks, Tencent Technology Co., LTD., Huawei Technologies Co., LTD and so forth. There are also a number of graduates enter their ideal university for further study, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and overseas universities such as Imperial College London, The University of Maryland, and the National University of Singapore.
